Chain of Legends is a web-based strategy game with immersive in-game features. I joined the project as a UI/UX Designer to redesign and improve the in-game chat system — making it easier to use, visually clean, and fully responsive across screens.
My goal was to make in-game communication feel seamless without breaking the gameplay experience. I redesigned the full chat system from scratch, starting with research and UI analysis. Key tasks included:
Analyzing the existing UI and user interactions before starting the redesign
Finding an effective position for the chat button within a crowded game interface
Designing a responsive chat system for desktop and mobile
Creating multiple chat states
Designing a custom emoji modal and adding mute/delete controls
Building an interactive Figma prototype to present user flow and positioning options
Challenges & Outcome
Designing for a game environment meant limited space, fast interactions, and high visual competition. I focused on clarity and accessibility, ensuring the system was not only functional but felt native to the game world.
The final design helped create a more engaging, responsive, and user-friendly chat experience — aligned with the game’s overall visual style.
Reflection
This project taught me how to design under constraints. Working with limited space and real-time interaction pushed me to simplify complex flows while keeping things intuitive and game-friendly.
